The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) will intensify its swachhata activities by providing more focus on the source segregation of the waste, result oriented collection efforts and maximum management of the waste to overcome the situation of visibility of garbage.
According to the officials, the visibility of the waste has been affecting the image of the localities. Even today on the last day of the Swachhta Hi sewa fortnight in meetings on the waste segregation and waste management the experts motivated the citizens to understand the benefits of segregation and carry out this exercise on daily basis.
The activities were conducted in Panjabi Bagh, Mohan garden, Rajouri Garden, Hastsal, Subhash Nagar, Roshaanpura, East Sagarpur, Manglapuri, CR park, RK Puram, Chhatarpur, Munirka, Devli, Khanpur, Kalkaji, Madanpur Khadar, Sarita Vihar, Andrews Ganj, Sidhath Nagar Extension, Friends Colony, Tuglakabad, Indira kalyan Vihar and other localities.
The Commissioner, Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel spent a full day in monitoring and issuing instructions to make the exercises more pointed. Local MP Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated a toilet in Andrews Ganj. The Standing Committee Chairperson interacted with the office-bearers of the RWAs and Market association on the need for continuing awareness against anti – swachhata habits
